Bolt, taxi or a private driver in Georgia? A couple staying inside Tbilisi or Batumi who need one or two rides a day should use Bolt; it is cheaper, and we say so plainly. A family with luggage and children, any day outside the city, airport days and any day with more than three stops need a private driver: a whole car for 85 USD a day, 8 to 10 hours, waiting at every stop, Arabic or English speaking, and no prepayment, you pay on arrival in Georgia.

Is there Uber in Georgia? Bolt in Georgia in brief
Uber does not operate in Georgia. The ride apps are Bolt and Yandex Go, and Bolt is the one tourists use most. It works with your foreign number, takes cash or card, and shows the fare before you confirm. Typical fares inside Tbilisi are 5 to 15 GEL per ride (about 2 to 6 USD) and airport to centre 25 to 40 GEL. Intercity rides are expensive with no waiting at stops: Tbilisi to Batumi one way is roughly 350 to 500 GEL.

Where Bolt honestly wins
For a couple in central Tbilisi or on the Batumi seafront, going out to dinner and back, paying 85 USD for a car that waits makes no sense. Where the private driver wins
The balance tips once the trip is a family trip or leaves the city. A family of five with bags does not fit a small Bolt car, and every day outside the city becomes an expensive taxi that will not wait; distances and times are in Distances and Driving Times Between Georgian Cities. The private driver gives you an air-conditioned car for 8 to 10 hours, fuel and parking included, waiting at every stop, Arabic or English, a name sign at the airport and free child seats. Two worked comparisons
A family of four in Tbilisi for a day
Two parents and two children in central Tbilisi want four rides: old town, restaurant, mall and back. Bolt costs about 40 to 60 GEL (about 15 to 22 USD). Here Bolt is cheaper, full stop. Now add Mtskheta and the Jvari monastery, about 20 km away, before the old town and dinner: by taxi you need a car that waits two hours at a negotiated price, then city rides. With a private driver the whole day is a sedan at 85 USD, waiting everywhere. The price gap narrows and the comfort gap is clearly in the driver's favour.
A Kazbegi day by taxi or with the driver
Kazbegi is about 155 km each way and about three hours on the road. A taxi there and back asks roughly 250 to 350 GEL (about 90 to 130 USD), with limited stops, no shared language and no child seat. The Hawa Georgia driver is 85 USD for the whole car, stopping at Zhinvali, Ananuri, Gudauri and Gergeti Trinity Church at about 2,170 m. Bolt tips, and the Tbilisi metro
- Install the app before you travel and register with your foreign number.
- Check the number plate and never accept a ride offered outside the app.
- The metro has two lines at about 1 GEL a ride; the Rike cable car climbs to Narikala for about 2.5 GEL.
Mistakes tourists make getting around Georgia
Assuming Bolt covers everything, then finding on the Kazbegi day that the driver will not wait at the church. Going to Batumi by taxi at 350 to 500 GEL one way when the same transfer with a private driver costs 150 USD for the whole car, stops on the way included.
