A 5 day Georgia itinerary is the trip length the Gulf asks for most, for Eid breaks and long weekends, and it is enough for Tbilisi, the Caucasus and one resort if it is arranged with care. The secret is not how many places you see but how little you move: four nights, one hotel change at most, one big mountain day and a lighter day after it. We at Hawa Georgia built this plan on the trips we actually run, with real departure times and distances, in a private car with an Arabic-speaking driver at 425 USD for the five days, for the whole car.
Day four comes in two versions: Borjomi and Bakuriani for forests and cool air, or Kakheti for villages, fortresses and an easier road. The figures are approximate, checked in October 2026, and the plan adjusts to your flight times and your children's ages with no deposit.
The logic behind a five-day plan
First rule: Tbilisi is the base for three or four nights, because every hotel change eats half a day. Second rule: the mountain day is day two, when you are rested and the weather easiest to predict. Third rule: the last day is for the flight only.
What do you cut? Batumi: the road is about 370 km and five and a half hours each way, two days out of five. Kutaisi and Svaneti belong to eight days or more. With a week, 7-Day Georgia Itinerary: Tbilisi, Kazbegi and Borjomi adds two nights in Borjomi and Bakuriani.
Day 1: arrival and an unhurried old Tbilisi
Most Gulf flights land at dawn or late at night, so plan nothing heavy. You are met in arrivals with a sign carrying your name, then the hotel to rest until the afternoon. From about four o'clock, a slow walk through the old town: the sulphur bath quarter, the Bridge of Peace, Shardeni street for dinner, then the cable car to Narikala fortress.
Day 2: the Georgian Military Highway and Kazbegi
An eight o'clock departure is necessary, not optional. About 156 km in three hours with stops: the turquoise Zhinvali reservoir, Ananuri fortress, the climb to Gudauri at about 2,200 m, then the Jvari Pass and the descent into Stepantsminda. Lunch there, then a local four-wheel drive up to Gergeti Trinity Church at about 2,170 m below Mount Kazbek. Back in Tbilisi by eight; the full route is in Kazbegi and the Caucasus: A Day Trip Guide from Tbilisi.
Skip the night in Kazbegi: in five days it uses one night of four and moves your luggage twice.
Day 3: Mtskheta in the morning, Tbilisi in the afternoon
After the long mountain day, short distances. Leave at ten for Mtskheta, the old capital about 20 km away: Jvari Monastery above the meeting of the two rivers, then Svetitskhoveli Cathedral. Back to Tbilisi for lunch, then an afternoon to taste: the botanical garden for walkers, a mall for shoppers, or the Dry Bridge and Rustaveli Avenue for a stroll. The evening is free.
Day 4: two options, Borjomi and Bakuriani or Kakheti
Option one: Borjomi and Bakuriani. Leave at half past eight heading south, about 160 km in two and a half hours, for Borjomi central park and the cable car above the forest. After lunch another 30 km to Bakuriani at about 1,700 m: skiing and sledges in winter, horses and the rope park in summer. Overnight there, the heart of Georgia 5-Day Tour – Borjomi and Bakuriani; with a morning flight on day five, make it a day trip instead.
Option two: Kakheti. East to Sighnaghi, the walled town above the Alazani plain, about 110 km in two hours, then Bodbe convent and its gardens, lunch in a village facing the Caucasus, and a fortress between the vineyards. A shorter road, no hotel change, back in Tbilisi by six.
Day 5: the road to the airport
From Tbilisi, the morning is free for breakfast and two hours at a mall or in the old town, then the airport three hours before departure. From Borjomi or Bakuriani, leave at eight with a short stop at Uplistsikhe, the town carved into the rock, then straight to the airport in about three and a half hours, for an afternoon or evening flight.
Summer or winter: what changes across the five days?
In summer, June to September, Tbilisi is at about 31 to 34 degrees by day, so start early, and Kazbegi sits at 18 to 22. In winter, from mid-December to March, the Jvari Pass can close for a few hours in snow, so we keep the Kazbegi day flexible and swap it when needed for Gudauri and its cable car, as in Georgia 5-Day Tour – Tbilisi and Bakuriani, which makes Bakuriani the family's snow stop. The car price never changes by season; only the hotel total is higher at Eid, so book six weeks ahead.
What a 5 day Georgia itinerary really costs
Our rule is one line: the car with an Arabic-speaking driver is priced per day for the whole car, never by the passenger, from 85 USD a day for a sedan and 100 USD for a minivan, covering eight to ten hours a day, fuel, parking, the driver's lodging, the airport welcome and the SIM card. A sedan for five days is 425 USD, a minivan for six passengers 500 USD. The long-stay discount of 5% starts at seven days, so five days carry no discount and no fees.
The hotel is optional and shown as a whole-stay total with breakfast, never a nightly rate: four nights in a double room from 396 USD at 4-star and 796 USD at 5-star, chosen at confirmation by availability. A couple with a sedan and four nights at 4-star comes to 821 USD, with a minivan 896 USD, and a family of four with a minivan and two rooms to 1,292 USD; children under 5 stay free. Add your own meals and tickets, about 30 to 50 USD a head a day. Every five-day plan is in Georgia Tour Packages 5 Days.
