Seven days is the length more than half of our clients ask about, and for good reason: it is the shortest trip that lets you see the capital, the mountains and the resorts without spending the whole holiday on the road. The difference between an enjoyable week and an exhausting one is not how many places you visit but the order you visit them in. This 7 day Georgia itinerary is built on hundreds of trips we have actually run.
The logic behind this plan
First rule: move your luggage no more than twice in seven days. Every hotel change costs you half a day. So you stay four nights in Tbilisi, then two in the Borjomi and Bakuriani area.
Second rule: mountains early. The Georgian Military Highway towards Kazbegi is quieter and clearer at the start of the week, and mountain weather is easier to plan for on day two than on day six when you are tired.
Third rule: a lighter day in the middle. Without one the trip becomes a duty.
Day 1: arrival and old Tbilisi
Most Gulf flights land at dawn or late at night, so plan nothing heavy. Airport pick-up, hotel, then an unhurried afternoon walk through the old town: the sulphur bath quarter, the Peace Bridge, and dinner on Shardeni street. The airport is only about 20 minutes from the centre.
Day 2: the Military Highway and Kazbegi
The big day. An eight o'clock departure is necessary, not optional: the road is about 150 kilometres but mountainous, and takes three and a half hours with stops. Stops: the turquoise Zhinvali reservoir, Ananuri fortress, the Friendship Monument at Gudauri, then the Gergeti Trinity Church below Mount Kazbek. Seasonal note: between November and March the Jvari Pass can close briefly for snow, and the climb to the church needs a four-wheel drive.
Day 3: Mtskheta, a lighter day
After the mountains, a short day: Mtskheta, the old capital, is only 25 kilometres away, with Jvari Monastery above the meeting of two rivers and Svetitskhoveli Cathedral. Back by the afternoon, evening free.
Day 4: Tbilisi properly
The real city day: the cable car to Narikala fortress, the botanical garden, the National Museum, then East Point or Tbilisi Mall. This day gives you the breathing space you need before moving on.
Day 5: on to Borjomi
About 160 kilometres south, two and a half hours. Borjomi central park and its famous mineral water, then the cable car. Overnight in Borjomi or nearby Bakuriani.
Day 6: Bakuriani or Rabati Castle
Two options by season: in winter, Bakuriani for snow, skiing and children's activities. In summer, Rabati Castle in Akhaltsikhe, fully restored. Both are within an hour of Borjomi.
Day 7: back and out
Return to Tbilisi in the morning with a lunch stop, then the airport. A night flight leaves room for two hours of shopping first.
What if you want the sea instead?
For a summer trip, swap the Borjomi days for Batumi: a full transfer day of about six hours with stops, then two days on the Black Sea. What a week really costs

Frequently asked questions about 7 days in Georgia
How much does a 7 day Georgia itinerary cost for two?
A sedan with an Arabic- or English-speaking driver is USD 85 a day for the whole car, so USD 565 for the week after the 5% discount. Hotels are optional, shown as a whole-stay total with breakfast: six nights in a double room from USD 594 at 4-star or USD 1,194 at 5-star in low season, with the hotel chosen at confirmation by availability. A week with a sedan and six nights in a 4-star hotel comes to USD 1,159 for two, and there is no prepayment: you pay on arrival.
Are 7 days enough for Tbilisi, Kazbegi and Batumi together?
Only if you accept one long road day between Tbilisi and Batumi (about 370 km, six hours). It is more comfortable to choose mountains or sea in one week and keep the other for a later trip, or to extend to 10 days as in Georgia 10 Day Grand Tour.
Can this itinerary be changed for my family?
Yes. The plan is a starting point, not a fixed programme. Tell us the children's ages and your interests, and we swap days and hotels and send the final version written day by day before you travel, with no deposit.
What is the best month for this week?
May to October for the mountains and nature, and December to March if you want snow in Gudauri or Bakuriani instead of Kazbegi. Month by month details are in Georgia weather by month.
Is the driver with us all seven days?

When and how do we pay?
On arrival in Georgia, in cash in US dollars or Georgian lari. With hotels the full amount is paid on arrival; with a driver only you pay daily at the start of each tour. Cancellation is free with 72 hours' notice when hotels are booked and 48 hours for driver-only.
