Overview
This 5 day Georgia tour runs from the capital south into gentle mountains, and it is the right choice for a family with young children. The idea is that mountains need not mean sharp altitude and endless hairpins: Bakuriani sits at roughly 1,700 metres, its slopes are wide and calm, and the way up passes through Borjomi with its mineral springs and park. There are only two bases, two nights in Tbilisi and two in Bakuriani, with no daily hotel changes. The rhythm follows the children: day two in Tbilisi is built around the Mtatsminda funicular, the amusement park on top of the ridge and Turtle Lake, while day four stays entirely in Bakuriani between the gondolas and the old Kukushka mountain train. Trip Itinerary
اليوم 1: Day One | Arrival in Tbilisi and a riverside evening
You are met at Tbilisi International Airport and taken straight to the hotel to drop the bags and rest, since most Gulf flights land late. The evening is a deliberately easy start along the Mtkvari river: Rike Park with its open lawns and children's play areas, then a walk across the lit glass Bridge of Peace to the old side. An early dinner at a restaurant near the hotel and back, with no long walking, so the children begin the next day with full energy.
اليوم 2: Day Two | Mtatsminda, Turtle Lake and the open-air museum
A Tbilisi day designed for children. We start with the Mtatsminda funicular, which climbs to the ridge at about seven hundred and seventy metres, where the amusement park, its ferris wheel and a full view over the city are waiting; we allow at least two hours there. After lunch we move to quiet Turtle Lake above the Vake district, reached by a short ropeway, then visit the neighbouring Open Air Museum of Ethnography with its old Georgian houses brought from every region. An early return to the hotel and dinner nearby.
اليوم 3: Day Three | Gori and Uplistsikhe, then Borjomi and up to Bakuriani
We leave Tbilisi westward after breakfast with the luggage. The first stop, about ninety kilometres on, is the rock-carved town of Uplistsikhe near Gori, with its caves, halls and theatre looking over the Mtkvari river, a place children enjoy because you walk through it rather than look at it. We continue to Borjomi for its central park and the warm mineral spring that visitors drink from directly, with a cable car ride above the park. Then thirty kilometres of bends climbing to Bakuriani and hotel check-in.
اليوم 4: Day Four | A full day in Bakuriani and the Kukushka train
A day almost without the car, spent in and around Bakuriani. In the morning we ride the Didveli or Kokhta gondola up to the wide slopes; in winter these easy runs are the right place for a first ski lesson or for sledging, and in summer they turn into meadows for walking, horse riding and quad bikes. In the afternoon we take the narrow-gauge Kukushka train, running this line since the beginning of the last century, over an iron bridge attributed to Eiffel's workshop, then visit the Alpine Botanical Garden. Dinner and a second night in Bakuriani.
اليوم 5: Day Five | Back to Tbilisi through Surami and departure
We come down from Bakuriani after breakfast for a return drive of about one hundred and eighty-five kilometres to Tbilisi. The main stop is the town of Surami, known for nazuki, a sweet cinnamon-scented bread baked and sold hot along both sides of the road, a short stop children love. We reach Tbilisi in the afternoon, and if there is time before the flight we call at one of the malls for any remaining gifts. Transfer to Tbilisi International Airport with a comfortable margin.
