Two weeks in Georgia is a generous amount of time, and it is also the length most often wasted. The common mistake is trying to fit fourteen towns into fourteen days and coming home having seen more road than country. This guide sets out three different two week Georgia itineraries, each built on a different logic, so you can choose the one that suits your family rather than the one that suits the map.
Before you choose: the rule of nights
The rule we apply to every long programme: no town deserves fewer than two nights. A single night means you arrived tired and left before you saw anything, having paid for a hotel you only slept in. Over fourteen days that means five bases at most, and four is better.
Route one: the complete loop, sea to mountain
The most requested route, and the right one for a first visit.
Days 1–4: Tbilisi. The capital, the old town, Mtskheta and Jvari, and a full day to Kazbegi on the Military Highway.
Days 5–6: Kakheti. The wine region to the east: Sighnaghi, the walled "city of love" above the Alazani valley, and the noble estates of Tsinandali. Two hours from Tbilisi.
Days 7–8: Borjomi and Bakuriani. South to the mineral water, the forests, and snow in winter.
Days 9–10: Kutaisi. Prometheus cave, the Martvili canyon with its boats between the rock walls, and Gelati monastery.
Days 11–14: Batumi. The Black Sea, the promenade, the botanical garden and the mountain villages nearby.

Route two: the mountain route
If you have been to Georgia before, or the mountains are why you are coming at all, this one goes deeper:
Days 1–3: Tbilisi as a base.
Days 4–6: Kazbegi. Three nights in Stepantsminda itself rather than a day trip — which changes the experience entirely: the Juta valley, Gveleti waterfall, and dawn light on Mount Kazbek.
Days 7–10: Svaneti. The region most visitors miss: the UNESCO stone towers of Ushguli and mountains higher than anything you have seen. The road is long and rough and needs a driver used to it.
Days 11–14: Kutaisi and Batumi for a gradual descent to the sea.
An honest warning: Svaneti is not for every family. Getting there takes a full day and the facilities are simpler. For those who appreciate it, it is the finest thing in Georgia.
Route three: the unhurried family plan
With small children or elderly parents, speed is the enemy. This route uses two bases only:
Days 1–7: Tbilisi with day trips out to Kazbegi, Mtskheta, Kakheti and Borjomi, and two genuine rest days.
Days 8–14: Batumi for the sea, the water parks and the nearby villages.

Which one is yours?
First visit and you want to see everything: route one. A nature lover who does not mind long roads: route two. Travelling with children or parents: route three, without hesitation.

What two weeks cost
The same rule as all our programmes: 200 USD per day for two people, including the private car with an Arabic speaking driver and the hotel. Fourteen days is 2,800 USD for two.

Three mistakes that ruin a two week trip
Too many towns. Eight towns in two weeks means eight nights lost to moving.
Ignoring the season. Svaneti and Bakuriani are completely different in January and July; see Best Time to Visit Georgia.
