Overview
This 6 day Batumi and countryside tour is for travellers who have already seen the city, or who do not want the city alone, but what lies behind it: the Adjaran mountains, their waterfalls, forests and tea plantations. All five nights are in one Batumi hotel, and every day leaves from it and returns to it, so there is no hotel-hopping with children. The rhythm is unhurried and rural: a day to the Makhuntseti waterfall and Queen Tamar's arched stone bridge in the Adjaristsqali valley; a day in the Mtirala rainforest with its hanging bridge, and the Chakvi tea plantations on the way; a day north to Kobuleti, the Ispani peat bogs and Petra fortress; and a day south to the Roman fortress of Gonio, Kvariati and Sarpi at the border. An Arabic-speaking driver matters on this route in particular: Adjara's mountain roads are narrow and winding with signage in Georgian only, the villages have no taxis, and without your own car waiting above, half a day turns into waiting.

Trip Itinerary
اليوم 1: Day One | Arrival and setting up base in Batumi
You are met at Batumi International Airport and driven to the hotel that will be yours for five full nights. A deliberately light first day: rest, then a short walk at the northern end of the boulevard by Miracle Park, and a first Adjaran dinner, whose best-known dish is the boat-shaped khachapuri with egg and butter. In the evening we agree the departure times for the days ahead, because mountain days start early, before the mist rises in the valleys. No long city sightseeing today; here the city is a base to sleep in, not the goal.
اليوم 2: Day Two | Makhuntseti: the waterfall and Queen Tamar's bridge
We head east up the Adjaristsqali river valley, about thirty kilometres between villages clinging to the slopes. We reach the Makhuntseti waterfall thundering between the rocks, and a few steps away stands a medieval arched stone bridge known as Queen Tamar's bridge, still crossed on foot. We continue higher up the valley to the other stone arch at Dandalo and the old water mills. Lunch in an Adjaran village house with tandoor bread, cheese and mountain honey, then back to Batumi in the late afternoon.
اليوم 3: Day Three | Chakvi tea plantations and the Mtirala forest
North to Chakvi, where tea growing in this region began more than a century ago and green terraces still cover the hills above the coast. From there we turn inland to Chakvistavi village, the gateway to Mtirala National Park, one of the wettest places in Georgia, with dense forest that stays damp all year. We walk a short trail to the hanging bridge over the river and the forest pool, and anyone who wants can take the zipline across the valley. Back to Batumi at sunset after a wholly green day.
اليوم 4: Day Four | Kobuleti, the Ispani bogs and Petra fortress
Twenty-five kilometres north to Kobuleti, the quieter resort on this coast, with its long beach and promenade under pine trees, an easier choice for families who find Batumi crowded. After time on the beach we walk the Ispani boardwalk in Kolkheti National Park, a raised path over rare peat bogs built up over thousands of years. On the way back we stop at Tsikhisdziri to climb the ruins of Petra fortress, looking out over the sea from its rocky bluff.
اليوم 5: Day Five | The southern coast: Gonio, Kvariati and Sarpi
South today along the coast road. The first stop is Gonio-Apsaros fortress, about fifteen kilometres out, a large Roman stronghold whose walls and many towers still stand, with gardens and excavations inside. Then Kvariati, where the water clears, the pebbles soften and the mountain comes straight down to the sea, and on to Sarpi, the last Georgian beach before the Turkish border, with transparent water and its arched border gate. Swimming and a fish lunch on the shore, then a short evening drive back to Batumi.
اليوم 6: Day Six | A Batumi morning, then departure
Check out and leave the luggage in the car. A last morning in the city itself: the covered central market, to buy Adjaran tea, honey and spices now that you have seen where they come from, then a short walk on the boulevard and a final hour facing the sea. Lunch according to your flight, then the short transfer to Batumi International Airport.
