Georgia in Eid: Dates, Early Booking and a Family Plan

2026-10-02

Georgia in Eid has become a yearly habit for many Gulf families: a holiday of five to nine days, a direct flight of roughly three to four hours, and visa-free entry for GCC citizens. For the next two years the Eids fall at convenient times: Eid al-Fitr at the end of winter, Eid al-Adha in the heart of spring.

Here is what we at Hawa Georgia tell every family who asks about Eid: the dates, the booking lead time, Eid prayer in Tbilisi, the crowds, a family plan of five to seven days, and the whole-car cost with an Arabic-speaking driver and no prepayment.

Eid dates for the next two years

The Islamic calendar moves about eleven days earlier each year, so Eid travels through the seasons. By calculation, give or take a day for the moon sighting, the dates are roughly:

  • Eid al-Fitr 1448: around 9 March 2027, in the last weeks of the ski season.
  • Eid al-Adha 1448: around 16 May 2027, at the peak of spring.
  • Eid al-Fitr 1449: around 26 February 2028, deep winter, when the highland snow is usually heaviest.
  • Eid al-Adha 1449: around 5 May 2028, full spring again.

In later years the Eids drift back into summer; the whole year is in Best Time to Visit Georgia: Snow, Sea, Family or Honeymoon.

Why Eid booking starts six to eight weeks ahead

Eid is not a Georgian holiday, but it has become a Gulf season in Georgia: demand for Arabic-speaking drivers, family vehicles and family rooms rises in the same single week. Two weeks before, a car is usually still available; the right hotel and adjoining rooms often are not.

Booking early costs nothing: no prepayment and no deposit, and cancellation is free up to 48 hours before arrival for a driver-only booking and 72 hours with hotels.

Eid prayer in Tbilisi

Eid prayer is held at the main mosque in the old town, in the sulphur-bath quarter below Narikala fortress. The prayer is shortly after sunrise and the square outside fills up, so arrive early for a place inside. We send you the announced time the day before, and the driver takes you there and back. Batumi also has a mosque in the centre near the old port.

Most families then keep Eid morning light, with a long breakfast, Mtatsminda for the children and lunch at a halal restaurant; the districts and cuisines are in Halal Food in Georgia: Tbilisi and Batumi Restaurant Guide.

What gets crowded at Eid and how we avoid it

Three places fill up in Eid week: the Military Highway to Kazbegi in the morning, the old town of Tbilisi in the evening, and the family hotels in the city everyone heads for. The fix is to turn the schedule around: Kazbegi on a day other than the first day of Eid, with an early start; the old town at midday rather than in the evening; the evening walk in Vake or along the river. And Vake and Saburtalo are far quieter places to stay than the old town, a quarter of an hour from every landmark with the driver.

Eid al-Fitr in March and February: late-season snow

In March 2027 Eid falls in the final weeks of the ski season: the snow usually still holds at Gudauri. For families we prefer Bakuriani, about three hours from Tbilisi via Borjomi, as in Georgia 5-Day Tour – Tbilisi and Bakuriani. In February 2028 the snow is usually heaviest, but the Kazbegi road is more prone to temporary closure, so we put the mountain in the middle of the programme, leaving a spare day. Nobody can guarantee snow on a given date.

Eid al-Adha in May: the full Georgian spring

May is, for us, the finest month for touring: Tbilisi between roughly 16 and 24 degrees, waterfalls at their strongest, the Kazbegi road normally open, and Kakheti green among its vineyards and villages. The sea at Batumi is not yet warm enough for swimming, but the boulevard, the botanical garden and the Adjara countryside are at their best. If you want the sea itself, the summer programmes are in Georgia Summer Packages; Eid al-Adha is the Eid of mountains and nature.

A family Eid plan of 5 to 7 days

The version we send most families:

  • Day 1: arrival in Tbilisi, welcome sign and SIM card, a quiet evening in the old town.
  • Day 2 (Eid day): Eid prayer at the old-town mosque, a long breakfast, Narikala, Mtatsminda and shopping.
  • Day 3: Kazbegi on the Military Highway, an early start, back before dark.
  • Day 4: Mtskheta, then on to Borjomi or Bakuriani: snow at Fitr, forest at Adha.
  • Day 5: a full day in Bakuriani, then back to Tbilisi for a night departure on the five-day plan.
  • Days 6 and 7: on the week plan, west to Batumi via Prometheus cave, a day on the seafront, departure from Batumi airport.

That is the structure of Georgia 7-Day Family Tour – Tbilisi, Borjomi and Batumi; for capital and sea without the mountains, Georgia 6-Day Tour – Tbilisi and Batumi is shorter and easier with small children.

What Eid week costs

Our car price does not change at Eid or in any season: a minivan for a family of up to six is 100 USD a day for the whole car, all costs included, so five days are 500 USD and seven days 665 USD after the length discount that starts at seven days.

Hotels are the part affected by the season, shown as one complete figure with breakfast, never a nightly rate: six nights in a double room at 4-star level from 594 USD outside high season and from 714 USD if the Eid nights fall inside our published high-season window; 5-star level from 1,194 USD and 1,494 USD. A family of four adults in two rooms with a minivan and 4-star hotels for a week is 1,853 USD outside high season; children under 5 are free.
