Overview

A seven-day family tour of Georgia built around one question: how much can children take in a single day? It suits families with children aged roughly four to twelve who want a hotel pool, halal restaurants and a real afternoon break instead of a schedule running from morning to night. Two nights in Tbilisi cover the Old Town and the Mtatsminda amusement park on the mountain above it; one night in Borjomi brings its central park with the mineral spring and the short cable car; three nights in Batumi bring the water park, the dolphinarium and the pebble beach in front of the boulevard. Only one day involves a long drive; the rest are short hops. Prayer times, lunch and a rest hour sit inside the plan rather than on top of it. An Arabic-speaking driver matters more on a family route than anywhere else: he stops the car the moment a child needs it, explains a dish to the waiter before it is cooked rather than after, knows the nearest mosque or prayer room in each city, and takes you back to the hotel at rest time and out again afterwards. Trip Itinerary

  1. اليوم 1: Day One | Arrival in Tbilisi and a quiet evening at Rike Park

    You are met at Tbilisi airport and driven straight to the hotel to check in and sleep, since most Gulf flights land at dawn and there is no sense starting a tour short of rest. The first day belongs to the hotel pool. In the late afternoon there is a short outing to Rike Park on the bank of the Mtkvari, with open lawns and playgrounds, then a four-minute cable car ride up to Narikala fortress and a view over the whole city. You walk down to the Bridge of Peace once it is lit, eat at a halal restaurant near the hotel, and return early.

  2. اليوم 2: Day Two | Mtatsminda park, the Old Town and pool time

    A late breakfast, then the funicular up Mtatsminda mountain to the amusement park at the top: the ferris wheel looking over Tbilisi from around 770 metres, the children's train and the rides built for younger ages. Lunch is at the summit restaurants, then back to the hotel for two hours of rest and swimming through the hottest part of the day. Late afternoon brings a short walk in the Old Town: Freedom Square, Chardin street and the craft market on the Dry Bridge, where each child picks something. Dinner is grilled meat and fresh Georgian bread.

  3. اليوم 3: Day Three | Mtskheta on the way, then Borjomi central park

    You leave after breakfast with the luggage. The first stop is Mtskheta, twenty kilometres out: Jvari monastery on its hill, where children watch two rivers of different colours meet directly below them, then Svetitskhoveli cathedral in the old centre. From there the road runs to Borjomi, about 140 kilometres in two and a half hours. You arrive in the afternoon, check in and rest, then head to the central park: the warm mineral spring the town is named after, with its surprising salty taste, the short cable car up to the plateau, and playgrounds among the trees by the river.

  4. اليوم 4: Day Four | The crossing to Batumi and the dancing fountains

    The only long day in the programme: about 270 kilometres from Borjomi to Batumi in four and a half hours with two planned breaks. The morning starts with a last walk in the Borjomi valley and bottles of mineral water bought at the source, then west through Khashuri and Zestafoni to Kutaisi for a lunch break, then down toward the coast through tea hills until the sea humidity arrives. You reach Batumi before sunset and check into a hotel on the boulevard, with a light evening at the dancing fountains on Ardagani lake.

  5. اليوم 5: Day Five | Water day: the water park, the beach and the boulevard

    A day given entirely to the children. In the morning you go to the Batumi water park with its slides, shallow toddler pools and wave area, on a full-day wristband with lunch inside so there is no going out and coming back. Late afternoon means a rest at the hotel, then the pebble beach in front of the boulevard, where the water is clear, the slope gradual and the stones clean. At sunset you walk or rent bicycles along the seven kilometres of boulevard path, and eat on Piazza square, where children play in full view while you sit.

  6. اليوم 6: Day Six | The dolphinarium, the Argo cable car and the old quarter

    The morning brings the dolphinarium show in 6 May Park, followed by a walk around the park lake, the small attached zoo and the playgrounds scattered through it. Lunch, then a short rest at the hotel. In the late afternoon the Argo cable car climbs in about ten minutes to Anuria hill, whose terrace shows the whole bay of Batumi, the port and the Adjara mountains behind it. You come down to the Alphabet Tower and the lanes of the old quarter, pausing at the moving statue of Ali and Nino at seven in the evening. A last dinner on the seafront.

  7. اليوم 7: Day Seven | A free morning, then departure

    It depends on your flight: a late breakfast and time on the hotel beach or at its pool, then a short visit to Batumi central market for honey, tea, spices and dried fruit to carry home as gifts. Bags are packed and a private transfer takes you to Batumi International Airport, very close to the centre at around six kilometres and a quarter of an hour. Or you are driven overland back to Tbilisi if you depart from the capital, with a lunch and rest stop on the way. The driver handles the luggage to the departure gate.
