Overview
This six day Georgia cable car and adventure tour strings the country's famous ropeways into one line running from the capital to the Black Sea, and adds tandem paragliding above Gudauri and a zipline across the Okatse valley. Six days and five nights across five different bases: Tbilisi, then Gudauri, then Kutaisi, then two nights in Batumi, so you never sleep in the same hotel twice and never repeat a road. You ride the Rike cable car and the Mtatsminda funicular in Tbilisi, the Gudauri gondolas above the snow line, the suspended Chiatura cable cars, a restored Soviet legacy hanging over the gorge, and finally the Argo ropeway climbing above Batumi and the sea. It is built for young travellers and groups of friends who prefer altitude to museums, and it asks for moderate fitness and daily walking. The Arabic-speaking driver genuinely matters here: adventure activities are booked in Georgian and cancelled by wind, and he is the one who chases the booking and rebuilds the day when it falls through. Trip Itinerary
اليوم 1: Day One | Tbilisi on two suspended lines
Pick-up from Tbilisi airport and hotel check-in, then the first two ropeways of the trip. We begin with the Rike Park cable car, which crosses the Mtkvari in two minutes and docks at Narikala Fortress, and we walk back down along the wall. After lunch we ride the Mtatsminda funicular from Chonkadze station to the summit, where the city's edge and the big wheel look out over all of Tbilisi. At sunset we stay up top to watch the lights come on, then go down for dinner in the Old Town and spend the night in Tbilisi.
اليوم 2: Day Two | Up to Kazbegi, night in Gudauri
We head north on the Georgian Military Highway. A stop at Ananuri fortress above the Zhinvali reservoir, then a steady climb to the Friendship Arch at 2,000 metres and the Jvari Pass at 2,379 metres. At Stepantsminda we swap the car for a 4x4 that grinds up the dirt track to Gergeti Trinity Church at 2,170 metres below Mount Kazbek, and then walk to the nearby Gveleti waterfall in the Dariali gorge. In the evening we drive 35 kilometres back south and sleep in Gudauri, ready for a flying morning.
اليوم 3: Day Three | Paragliding at Gudauri and the Chiatura cable cars
Morning is the best wind window: a tandem paraglide from the Gudauri slopes with an instructor, a running take-off and a landing in the valley some ten to fifteen minutes later; anyone who prefers not to fly rides the resort gondolas to the upper station instead. In the afternoon we drive about 200 kilometres west to Chiatura, the mining town crossed by cable cars strung between the two sides of the gorge since Soviet times, its lines now restored and running. We continue to Kutaisi for the night.
اليوم 4: Day Four | Prometheus Cave, Martvili canyon, then Batumi
A day underground and on water. We start in Prometheus Cave, walking its lit galleries between stalactites and stalagmites and finishing the visit by small boat on the underground river. Then Martvili Canyon, where you ride an inflatable boat between narrow stone walls hung with ivy. Anyone who wants more adds the Okatse canyon walkway, suspended around 140 metres above the valley floor, and its zipline. We then drive the 145 kilometres to Batumi and spend the night there.
اليوم 5: Day Five | The Argo ropeway and Batumi adventures
The Argo cable car lifts you from central Batumi to Anuria hill in about ten minutes, and the whole city appears with its towers and the coastline running down to the Turkish border. Back at the bottom we hire bikes on Batumi Boulevard and pass the moving Ali and Nino statue and the Alphabetic Tower. In the afternoon a boat trip or jet ski from the port, sea conditions permitting. In the evening we ride the Ferris wheel on the waterfront, then a seafood dinner and a second night in Batumi.
اليوم 6: Day Six | The Adjaran countryside and departure
The last day north of Batumi: the Botanical Garden at Green Cape, set on a slope dropping straight to the Black Sea, with paths running through plants from three continents, then the mountain road to the stone Queen Tamar bridge and the Makhuntseti waterfall, where you can wade into the cold water. If time allows, add a short zipline across the river. We return to Batumi for your transfer to Batumi airport, or set off overland to Tbilisi if you fly from the capital.
