Flights: the most volatile line
Flights alone can be a third or half of the budget depending on timing. Three practical moves genuinely reduce this line: travelling outside peak July and August and New Year week, comparing arrival into Tbilisi airport against Kutaisi airport in the west of the country, and accepting a late-night arrival. Many flights from the Gulf land after midnight, which does not trouble you at all when the meet-and-greet, the car and the hotel are arranged in advance, but costs you a whole night and a lot of effort when they are not.
Note a point many travellers miss: a late-night arrival day counts as a day in any programme, because the car, the airport pickup and the hotel are all working on it. Budget for it from the start rather than being surprised by it.
Food: cheaper than you expect
Food in Georgia is one of the kinder lines in a Gulf family's budget compared with other European destinations. A family meal at a mid-range restaurant in Tbilisi or Batumi stays within reasonable bounds, and Georgian cooking itself is generous: khinkali, khachapuri and the grill dishes feed more people than the menu suggests. Add that most hotels include breakfast, and a third of your meals drop out of the calculation.
A practical tip for families: one supermarket visit on the first day for fruit, water, milk and children's snacks noticeably lowers the weekly bill, and prices in the large stores are reasonable. Halal restaurants are available in both Tbilisi and Batumi, and a driver who knows where they are saves you time and failed attempts more than it saves you money.
Activities: where the total inflates or holds

The budget above is not fixed from year to year. These are the movements we see in our daily dealings with hotels and transport this season.
Hotels have risen most. Gulf demand for Tbilisi and Batumi has grown quickly, and good central hotels are now booked months ahead in peak summer and over the new year. A suitable family hotel is roughly 70 to 120 USD a night, and the gap between booking early and late can reach a third.
Transport rose more gently. A private car with a driver runs roughly 100 to 160 USD a day depending on the vehicle and the length of the route, and the gap between mountain and city routes has widened because fuel and time in the mountains cost more.
Food has barely moved. It remains the cheapest line of the trip compared with any European destination.
Flights are the biggest variable and the least predictable, depending far more on your departure city and booking date than on the year.
The practical rule this season: fix the hotel and the car early, and negotiate the flight late — the opposite of what most travellers do.
