This 7 day Georgia tour is the golden triangle and the trip we are asked for most: capital, mountains and sea in a single week, with no empty day and no exhausting one. What really separates it from the shorter routes is that it does not visit Kazbegi, it sleeps there. You spend a night in Stepantsminda at 1,740 metres and see Mount Kazbek at first light, a sight nobody who drives back the same day ever gets, and you keep a whole morning for the Gveleti waterfall, the Dariali gorge and the Sno valley, places Georgia 4 Day Tour - Tbilisi and the Caucasus simply has no room for. Your large luggage stays at the Tbilisi hotel and you go up with an overnight bag only. Batumi then gets two and a half days on its southern coast rather than inland: the Roman fortress of Gonio, the beach at Sarpi and the botanical garden at Green Cape, a wholly different route from Georgia 6 Day Tour - Tbilisi and Batumi. Trip Itinerary

  1. اليوم 1: Day One | Arrival in Tbilisi and an evening by the Mtkvari

    You are met at Tbilisi International Airport and driven straight to the hotel. We keep this evening deliberately light because the following day is long: a short walk down to Rike Park on the bank of the Mtkvari, across the glass Bridge of Peace as its lights come on, then a first dinner at a restaurant overlooking the river serving khinkali and khachapuri. No long walking and no fixed times. The driver agrees tomorrow's departure hour with you according to when your flight landed and how much sleep you need.

  2. اليوم 2: Day Two | Tbilisi: Sameba, the Gabriadze tower and the museum treasury

    The full capital day. We begin at Holy Trinity Sameba Cathedral on Elia hill with its wide grounds, the largest church in the country. We come down to Shavteli street and the leaning Gabriadze clock tower, whose angel appears on the hour, then walk the Erekle II and Shardeni lanes full of cafes. After lunch we visit the archaeological treasury of the Georgian National Museum on Rustaveli Avenue, with the gold of Colchis and jewellery more than two thousand years old. We end the day at Freedom Square and the gift market beside it.

  3. اليوم 3: Day Three | The Georgian Military Highway and a night in Stepantsminda

    We set off north with an overnight bag only, while the large luggage stays at the Tbilisi hotel. The first stop is Ananuri fortress above the Zhinvali reservoir, then the climb to Gudauri and the coloured Friendship Monument above a deep valley, and the crossing of the Jvari Pass at two thousand three hundred and ninety-five metres. We reach Stepantsminda in the afternoon and take a 4x4 up to Gergeti Trinity Church before sunset, once the day coaches have gone. Dinner and a night in the town directly beneath the mountain.

  4. اليوم 4: Day Four | Kazbek at sunrise, Gveleti, Dariali and the Sno valley

    The morning is the whole reason for sleeping here: the summit of Kazbek at first light, usually before the midday cloud builds. After breakfast we head north to the narrow Dariali gorge on the northern border with its monastery complex, stopping for a short walk on foot to the Gveleti waterfall between the rocks. Then we turn into the quiet Sno valley with its carved stone heads of Georgian figures and its thinly populated villages. After lunch we drive back down the Military Highway to Tbilisi, stopping at Svetitskhoveli Cathedral in Mtskheta. Night in Tbilisi.

  5. اليوم 5: Day Five | Transfer to Batumi through Rikoti and the sands of Ureki

    The longest road day of the trip, so we leave early: about three hundred and seventy kilometres west on the highway through the Rikoti pass and its new tunnels, which have shortened the journey considerably. We break the drive with lunch in the Imereti region, then as we near the coast we stop at Ureki with its black magnetic sand, a beach completely unlike the pebbles of Batumi. We reach Batumi in the late afternoon and check in, going out in the evening to the boulevard, the Chacha Tower and Europe Square for a first meeting with the Black Sea.

  6. اليوم 6: Day Six | South of Batumi: Gonio fortress and Sarpi beach

    The southern coast day. We drive fifteen kilometres south to the Roman fortress of Gonio-Apsaros with its walls, eighteen towers and inner garden, one of the oldest fortified sites in the region. We continue to Sarpi, the last Georgian point before the Turkish border, where the water is at its clearest, the pebbles are clean and the mountain drops straight into the sea, with time to swim and have lunch on the beach. Returning in the afternoon we pass 6 May Park and Nurigeli lake, and for those with children, the dolphin show at the Batumi Dolphinarium.

  7. اليوم 7: Day Seven | The botanical garden at Green Cape, then departure

    A last morning north of the city: the botanical garden at Green Cape, about nine kilometres away, more than a hundred hectares planted since 1912 on a slope running down to the sea, with Japanese, Mexican and Himalayan sections and paths looking over the bay from above. We return to the hotel for the luggage, perhaps with a quick stop to buy Georgian tea and honey. Batumi International Airport is only six kilometres south of the centre, so the transfer takes no more than fifteen minutes.
