Overview

This 5 day Georgia snow tour is the shortest distance between Tbilisi airport and your first slope: one night in the capital, then three unbroken nights in Gudauri. The resort starts at around 2,200 metres and rises to 3,279 metres in the Sadzele sector, that altitude means wide open runs above the treeline, which suits a confident skier or a young group far more than a child taking a first lesson; families with small children are better off in gentler Bakuriani, and the full comparison is in Gudauri or Bakuriani: Comparing Georgia Ski Resorts. The rhythm is deliberately simple: a short arrival day, a climb up the Georgian Military Highway with a stop at Ananuri fortress, then two full mountain days from one hotel, with no luggage and no morning transfers. If you also want Kazbegi and Tbilisi evenings, read Georgia Snow Tour 7 Days - Gudauri and Tbilisi. An Arabic-speaking driver changes this particular route: the Jvari Pass at 2,395 metres is sometimes closed for hours to be cleared after heavy snowfall, and your driver follows the road reports, knows when to leave and when to wait, and drops you at the gondola gate first thing instead of queueing for public transport. Trip Itinerary

  1. اليوم 1: Day One | Arrival in Tbilisi and a short night before the mountain

You are met at Tbilisi International Airport and taken to a hotel in the centre. Most Gulf flights land late, so the first day is deliberately short: dinner nearby and an early night before the climb. If you arrive in daylight with energy left, an hour in the Old Town works well, or the cable car from Rike Park up to Narikala fortress to see Tbilisi from above before the snow days begin. In the evening we check your boot sizes and skiing level so that the rental in Gudauri is ready and no time is lost tomorrow.

  2. اليوم 2: Day Two | The Georgian Military Highway and a first run in Gudauri

We leave Tbilisi after breakfast, heading north on the Georgian Military Highway: one hundred and twenty kilometres climbing from about four hundred metres to over two thousand. The first stop is Ananuri fortress above the green Zhinvali reservoir, then the Aragvi valley and the town of Pasanauri. After that the real ascent begins towards the Jvari Pass at 2,395 metres, and just below it the Friendship Monument on the lip of a deep gorge. We reach Gudauri and check in before noon, then take a first trial run in the afternoon on the slopes near the base to gauge your level before the two full mountain days.

  3. اليوم 3: Day Three | A full ski day between Kudebi and Sadzele

A day on the mountain from the first lift. We start at the base station at around 2,200 metres and ride the Kudebi sector, with its long, wide blue runs, the right place to find your rhythm. After lunch in a mountain hut we go up to the Sadzele sector at 3,279 metres, the highest point of the resort and the place where you feel most clearly that you are above the treeline. Anyone in the group who does not ski spends the day in the summit cafe or tries the tubing lane at the base. Back to the hotel after the lifts close.

  4. اليوم 4: Day Four | The Kobi side, the snow park and a different pace

The second mountain day is deliberately different from the first. In the morning we take the long gondola line towards the Kobi valley on the northern side of the pass, a quieter, less crowded side with open runs that hold their line for longer. In the afternoon there are other options: snowmobiles on the nearby plateaus, a tandem paraglider flight with an instructor over the valley when the weather allows, or an hour in the snow park for a first try at jumps. Evenings in Gudauri are short and cold, and most guests settle for a warm dinner at the hotel and an early night.

  5. اليوم 5: Day Five | Down to Tbilisi and departure

A last breakfast facing the mountain, then the same road in reverse; the descent looks nothing like the climb because the valley opens ahead of you instead of closing behind. We reach Tbilisi in about two and a half hours, and if there is time before the flight we stop at the Dry Bridge market or a mall for any remaining gifts, or at the sulphur baths in the Abanotubani quarter for an hour that puts the warmth back into two days of skiing. Transfer to Tbilisi International Airport with a comfortable margin.
