Trip Itinerary

1. Day 1: The day | The Martvili boat, then the Prometheus cave

   Seven in the morning, departure from your Batumi hotel north on the highway, with a breakfast stop after an hour and a half in the Samtredia area. We reach Martvili around half past ten, before the crowds: we walk the suspended path above the turquoise river among small waterfalls, then descend to the boat landing and take the rubber boat into the narrow canyon under the green walls for about a quarter of an hour, and those who wish continue to the Abasha river with its small dam and nearby waterfall. Lunch in a country restaurant from the Mingrelian kitchen. After lunch, about an hour to Tskaltubo and into the Prometheus cave: a trail of a kilometre and a half among stalagmites and stalactites in halls lit in changing colours, the underground river boat at its end for those who wish, and a cool temperature inside all year. Around half past four we set off back to Batumi, reaching the hotel between eight and half past eight in the evening.
